This week in my US history class we did a simulation of the Constitutional Convention. I was more excited about this than most of the people in my class. We were able to dress up for extra credit, which made it even more interesting and fun. I got to be Alexander Hamilton, so I got to speak a lot. It was perfect for me. I love any chance I get to practice my public speaking and debate abilities. Since I am in theater I also like being able to take on a role. I researched his political views heavily in order to properly portray him. This is going to assist me a lot in my class because he was such an important person in the convention. I know that my hard work will pay off in my upcoming test. Being able to take a specific position is a good skill for someone wanting to go into a legal field or politics. Although I don’t want to work specifically with American law, knowing about the formation of our government is a useful tool for interpretation of laws and the constitution. It’s also interesting and important to see how much laws have changed throughout history.
